Test Overview:
SARS-CoV-2 Antibody (IgG), Spike, Semi-Quantitative – This test is used to detect people who have developed an adaptive immune response to SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19), indicating recent or previous infection. This semi-quantitative test’s results should not be construed as a measure of immunity or protection against reinfection.

This test may be positive in people who have received a SARS-CoV-2 spike or receptor-binding domain vaccine; however, the clinical significance of a positive antibody result in people who have received a COVID-19 vaccine is unknown, in part because the test’s performance characteristics have not been established for that population. It’s unclear how long antibodies last after infection or whether their presence confers protective immunity. This test should not be utilized to diagnose acute SARS-CoV-2 infection.
