Formal Name of the Test:
Drug Toxicology Monitoring Alcohol Metabolites, with Confirmation, Urine
Other Names Used:
ETG
Sample Required:
Random urine
Test Overview:
Ethyl glucuronide and ethyl sulfate are metabolites of ethanol (alcohol) that can be found in the urine after consuming or being exposed to ethyl alcohol-containing drinks, meals, medications, or other goods. Accidental exposure to alcohol-containing products like mouthwash or hand sanitizer has also been linked to positive alcohol metabolites tests. LC-MS/MS testing may detect EtG and EtS from any source. As a result, we recommend that you consider the clinical picture when interpreting alcohol metabolite test results.
