Test Overview:
Myocardial infarction, liver illness, pernicious and megaloblastic anemia, pulmonary emboli, cancers, and muscular dystrophy can all cause an increase in serum lactate dehydrogenase. The diagnostic utility of lactic dehydrogenase is restricted because it is found in numerous bodily tissues. Isoenzyme analysis may improve tissue specificity.
