Test Overview:
This panel comprises the following six tests. Please click on the individual test for more details.
- Chlamydia and Gonorrhea
This test screens for gonorrhea and chlamydia, common STDs that can infect the genitals, rectum, and throat. - Treponema pallidum Antibodies (FTA-ABS)
This test screens for syphilis, an infection that leads to sores, rashes, and lesions on your body. - Herpes Simplex Virus 1 and 2 (IgG), Type-Specific Antibodies
HSV-1 primarily causes blisters or “cold sores” around the oral cavity and mouth, while HSV-2 usually causes lesions around the genital area; however, either one can affect the oral or genital area. - Hepatitis B Surface Antigen
The presence of hepatitis B surface antigen is the first sign of acute infection. It’s also a sign of chronic infection. The test is helpful in the differential diagnosis of hepatitis. - Hepatitis C with Confirmation
A positive test indicates that the individual has been exposed to the virus at some point. This test is quite effective in ruling out HCV infection. - HIV 1 and 2 with Confirmation
This test is used to diagnose HIV-1 from HIV-2 and to distinguish HIV-1 and HIV-2 infection, especially acute infection.
