Test Overview:
Pregnancy, estrogens, hyperproteinemia, and acute intermittent porphyria all cause a decrease in T3 uptake.
Androgens, hyperproteinemia, stress, and acute liver disease all cause an increase in T3 uptake.
This test measures the number of thyroid hormone binding sites that are available, and it should be read in conjunction with thyroxine levels.
